Winds of Change

Just a quick blog post here. It's finally warming up in Montreal! People were wearing skirts with short sleeves and bare legs over the weekend and it wasn't even THAT warm. I guess we're all eager beavers when it comes to bringing out our summer wardrobe. It's been so long since my last outfit of the day. I have to confess that my wardrobe is becoming boring-er. I used to love colors and patterns but nowadays, I always default to neutral and plain designs. Maybe it's got something to do with age and the work place...

This is a typical outfit that I'd wear to the office. The skirt is probably too short but I like breaking zi rules (hehe).

Trench coat: ASOS
Blouse: H&M
Skirt: Zara
Bag: Old Navy

Over the weekend, Miss Adri and I did a lot of walking in preparation for our trip. She showed me a great overhead passage way that's right above a train track. There were two men taking portraits while busting out all kinds of gang signs. I later made Miss Adri pose with a gang sign. Please message me for a copy of ghetto thug Adri.

It was SUPER sunny and windy that day which made it hard for us to shoot. We realized that by using the sun as a back light even when it's high up in the sky, we were able to get a dreamy effect.

Jacket: RW&Co
Turtleneck: Zara
Lace skirt: Topshop
Bag: Old Navy

Hi! Remember this? It's an outfit of the day post! Despite the recent closet overhaul, I have not abandoned my love for fashion. I'm slowly curating my wardrobe so it only contains versatile pieces that I truly love and is suitable for my life style -innocent smile-.

*Flips 180 degrees* BUT lemme introduce you to Mr-new-speckled-grey-jacket-of-my-dreams! On Monday, we had a fire alarm at work so everyone had to evacuate the building. We weren't allowed to go back inside so my coworkers and I strolled around the mall to kill some time. The true danger wasn't the fire in our building but the fire that burned in my heart the minute I saw this jacket on display. I squealed and jumped like a fat kid reaching for the last McNugget! Next thing I knew I had a shopping bag in my hands and it was time to go back to work. I caved in two weeks prior to the end of our 4 month shopping ban TT___TT I guess that's still a feat in my book?

Thank you Miss Adri for bending in all kinds of positions to capture my OOTD :-P

I'm getting back into the grind of consistent blogging now that I have my work schedule balanced out. Miss Adri and I have thrilling ideas for 2015 and we're filled with excitement >__<!

It's time to get off the wall and start creating!

Faking Spring

Trench coat: Asos (still available!)
Blouse: Madewell
Jeans: Levi's
Boots: Zara
Bag: Zipia

Hey guys, today we got a preview of Spring weather which caused me to get so excited that I abandoned my finance case assignment and frolicked outside wearing my new trench coat with some fake flowers in hand! It feels so refreshing to wear lighter clothes and don't even get me started on how nice it feels to breathe normally without icicles forming in your nostrils!

I've been hunting for the perfect trench coat for a while and this one is perfect because of the color. It's a beautiful golden bronze color that looks pinkish in some light conditions.

Niv's mom tailored the jacket to my height so it fits perfectly! This coat will be replacing my beloved beige Zara jacket that's too small for me now :- C

I watched Forrest Gump with Monkey today. For some weird reason, I always thought Forrest was a dog... so when I told Monkey, he face-palmed so hard that I thought he was gonna leave a permanent hand print on his face! Since then, he's been trying to make me watch it every time we have nothing to do (which is all the time). I finally conceded to his nags and I CAN'T BELIEVE I DIDN'T WATCH IT EARLIER! It's such a good movie *screams*, Forrest was so endearing that I couldn't help but smile when he was happy and cry when he was sad. If you haven't watched it yet, you should definitely put it on your "to-watch list". I feel happier and lighter after watching this movie : )

Momma always said, "Life is like a box of chocolates. You never know what you're gonna get."

Old Habits Die Hard

Moto jacket: Zipia
Knit cardigan: H&M
Chiffon dress: Zara
Boots: Aldo

There's something about a good flower print that I cannot resist. I love all kinds of prints but I always end up buying something flower-printed out of habit. I got this black flower printed chiffon dress from Zara for only 15$. I love their stock clearance, you can score so many nice things for cheap. The trick is to go often which I've been doing too often in the past month.

I shot these photos near my house because I haven't gone out this week. Other than catching up on my readings and finishing my quiz, I've been a big lazy panda. It's so comfortable to lounge in sweatpants all day long : } Wearing ugly clothes makes you feel ugly after a while, so I decided to dress up even if I was staying inside.

I'm not a hat person because they look weird on me but I really like the look of a newsboy cap. I've been searching for a nice one for a long time and I kinda forgot about it until they started popping up everywhere on my favourite Korean online website: Zipia! I immediately snatched a cheaper version from G-market (Korean ebay).

I got this cute quilted bag for party purposes but Monkey thinks it's too kawaii for me 'cause I'm old (thanks buddy). As long as I don't dress like this, I don't see the harm in injecting some cuteness in your wardrobe!

I can't believe how fast each month is passing. Tomorrow is already March! My new year's resolution was to do something new each month but I don't think I accomplished anything new for February *shamefully hides*. I have a couple of exciting projects for March so perhaps that will make up for the lack of action this month ^___^;

One Jacket Doesn't Cut It

Fake leather jacket: random boutique in NYC
Coat: Zara
Jeans: Levi's
Boots: Aldo

When asked about our day, Lily and I responded with: "We took pictures in front of a door" which sums up our day pretty well. We also ate like piglets because you know, taking photos in front of a door is very energy draining! Today was warmer than usual so I shed my black winter coat and wore my bright red coat. For extra protection, I wore my leather jacket underneath.

I love my chunky fur-lined boots from Aldo. They're actually warm and protect my feet against the snow, slush and pools of water. Probably the best winter boots I've had :-) Monkey has been nagging me to buy those heavy-duty snow boots but I'm glad I didn't listen to him.

I'm also wearing my Chain Reaction necklace from Bimbomb. It's made of plastic but doesn't look cheap. I don't wear necklaces often because they're heavy and uncomfy but this one is totally light which made me forget I was even wearing a necklace! It's currently out of stock but don't worry, the girls are ordering more ;-)

Also, I spotted the most beautiful fake leather jacket at Zara today! It's everything I've always wanted in a leather jacket and is bajillion times better than the one I'm currently wearing. Ugh, that's the thing with fashion, the new sparkly thing is always better than the old thing you have, even if they're the same thing. I'm gonna have to sleep many many nights on it.

I don't know what's up but blogger seems to be lowering the quality of my images -angryface- Thanks Lily for being my loyal photographer and forcing me to take my OOTD! She was sick but still agreed to come out and hang with me <3

A few days ago, I went to Ikea with Monkey and spotted these cute veggie plushies. They're just so cute, I'm dying inside >____<!!!

I have some exciting news: in a month, I'll be photographing a wedding! My close friend's friend is getting married (she's around my age -GASP-) and I asked her if I could shoot some photos. I'm not the only photographer but I'm still pretty nervous because you only have one chance to capture the moment but it will be an amazing learning opportunity. 2014 is the year for trying new things!

Meet Samia from BimBomb

Two weeks ago, I met up with Samia who recently opened her own online shop with her best friend Audrey and had a blogger outing. We stumbled upon the coolest room in the Museum of Fine Arts and took the opportunity to snap some photos.

It's funny, I feel as if I've known her for ages even though we've only met up twice. First time being last autumn. We went to the same Cegep and had a couple of mutual friends and we lived super close to each other for like 3 years but we never met up until last year. Before we met up, I always knew her as the cool cat that owned the awesome MTL-based fashion blog Goldzmine. Her blog is not called Goldzmine anymore but it is still as awesome.

Samia and Audrey launched their online shop called Bimbomb during the weekend and it's DA BOMB! Seriously check it out! If you live in Quebec (Canada) you get free shipping and the prices are affordable! I already have my eyes set on some items but they're out of stock *already*!

They have really cute models too and it reminds me of a Caucasian version of Zipia, my favorite Korean online shop. Opening an online shop has always been one of my dreams too and I'm so excited that they were able to realize theirs. It makes me want to strive harder for my current dreams!

So amused by this artwork: holographic dancers in a fish tank! I like how the fish didn't really care about these intruders and minded their own fishy business.

It's super cold these days and all I want to do is curl up in a ball and sip some noodle soup. Ugh that ramen picture is making me drool so badly ;___;

I've been catching up with some friends and yesterdays I played cards at a friend's apartment. It was so funny and I don't think I've laughed that hard in a long while. January has been a very relaxing month but I need to get serious about my schoolwork soon. I already have a case and a midterm in the next two weeks (yep online courses are like ghosts that creep up to you outta nowhere with -BOOoooMIDTERMTIME-)!

Right now is the easiest time to catch a flu so make sure you stay warm guys :-) Until next time~

Frosty Flowers

Holla at the first OOTD of 2014 !!! Earlier last week, I asked Lily if she wanted to visit the Westmount Greenhouse with me for a little photoshoot. Last year, Adrienne brought me to this greenhouse and I've been itching to return. Since it's connected to the Westmount Public Library, it's the perfect place to sit and read a book while enjoying some greens. The temperature is regulated so it's easy to forget that we are in the midst of winter.

White coat: G-market
Jeans: Levi's
Kimono: Topshop
Belt: Asos

Now you see, if I'd worn this outfit outside, I'd probably turn into a popsicle within 10 seconds. But yours truly cheated, I packed my outfit in my backpack and wore my usual winter coat and changed when I got inside. So it's not really my "outfit of the day" but hey I wore it so it counts :-))))! I also matched my clothes to the greenhouse. The white that represents the snowy fields and the flowers on my kimono are the ones that are guarded against the cold in a comfy greenhouse. Hehehe I'm cheesy like that, everything has to have a concept :-P

I've been eyeing this kimono for almost a year! When I saw it on Topshop's online website, my heart skipped a beat. Sadly, the price was anything but desirable so I forced myself to forget my love. Over the summer, I bought a cream kimono from Forever21, but it was a fling and whenever I looked at it I could only think of the Topshop kimono. A year later, I see the Topshop kimono at my local LaBaie department store at 50% off! I knew at that moment that I had to betray F21 kimono and bought Topshop kimono in a blink of an eye.

Lesson of the day: Don't rebound and seize the opportunity when the time's right!

Look at the airplane trail that streaks the sky! It makes me want to jet back to California TT___TT

Lily and I are trying to save some money by eating out less so throughout the shoot our tummies were demanding to be fed. These cornucopia flower pots reminded us of delicious buttery croissants :Q. It also reminds me of Hunger Games which I've recently started to read thanks to Niv.

Left: Glitter on pretty plants that are dyed blue
Right: A cool earring that Lily DIY-ed into a necklace

Lily on the left: "Check out that hottie!"

Please visit Lily's blog for more details of her outfit of the day!

I've been enjoying my lazy days now that I don't need to physically go to school. I've been watching movies and reading a lot of novels. I recently had a mini Leonardo Dicaprio marathon *his acting makes me melt into pudding* and I started reading the Hunger Games *finally*! I've also started reading some non-fiction such as The Outliers by Malcom Gladwell, it's about success and the factors that make some people outstanding. It's a very interesting read and I can't wait to start reading his other book, The Tipping Point.

Have you read any interesting books lately? Please recommend me some :-)

A Walk In Balboa Park

If you only have one day in San Diego, I definitely suggest dropping by Balboa park, it is a grand and gorgeous urban cultural park in the heart of the city. We purchased the park & zoo passport and spent two days visiting the museums, the beautiful parks and the zoo. I particularly enjoyed the art museums. The city planners are clever for clustering all the museums in one space. For a day full of walking, I decided to wear a simple outfit. These kinds of outfits are my fav because they're fuss free and so comfortable!

Bolero: Macy's (brand American Rag)
Jeans: Macy's (brand Levi's)
V-neck: American Apparel

This knitted bolero is the perfect size of salt & pepper pattern. I've been looking for a salt & pepper knit forever! Most of them are too small for my liking but this one is perfect and it's from Macy's! Why are American department stores so much better than Canadian ones?

I love the wash on my Levi's jeans. They were on sale at Macy's and I grabbed 2 pairs. I had to resist myself from buying them in every shade. I didn't like the bleached bottom of my pant leg but they're starting to grow on me. They're so comfy, why didn't I ever think of buying jeans from Levi's? Oh yes, 'cause they're frikkin expensive in Canada >___< (anything above 40$ is too expensive for me lol).

For these pictures, I decided to play with Photoshop and Toycamera filters because I really wanted to bring out the warmth and beauty of Balboa Park. All the buildings are in a Spanish Colonial Revival style, they're intricate yet simple.

One of my favourite buildings in the park: the California Bell Tower and the Museum of Man. The stunning tiled domed roof stood out from far away and I couldn't leave without visiting the museum.

One of the many archways, I felt like a royal while walking through them.

Museum of Art,they had a special exhibition on Women, War and Industry. It was really interesting!

Pretty Persian tiles: hmm... bending backwards to pick up those apples isn't the most convenient way isn't it?

Indian artwork: Monkey God harassing a woman :-P

The passport combo comprised of entry to 14 museums and the zoo but sadly, we simply didn't have enough time to visit all the museums. If you are interested in visiting the park only, it is free (for the most part). We only realized after we bought the passport that we could've just enjoyed strolling through the park and check out one or two museums (hence saved money). So heads up for those planning on visiting Balboa Park!

Sadly, my trip is coming to an end tomorrow. It's been a wonderful escape! I'm surprised by how friendly Californians are. Every day, a handful of strangers would smile and say hello to us or offer help when we look lost. I bet that constant perfect weather has something to do with the people's sunny dispositions.

I still have a handful of pictures which I'm very eager to share. Hopefully the California warmth can reach you guys through the monitor :-)
