Frosty Flowers

Holla at the first OOTD of 2014 !!! Earlier last week, I asked Lily if she wanted to visit the Westmount Greenhouse with me for a little photoshoot. Last year, Adrienne brought me to this greenhouse and I've been itching to return. Since it's connected to the Westmount Public Library, it's the perfect place to sit and read a book while enjoying some greens. The temperature is regulated so it's easy to forget that we are in the midst of winter.

White coat: G-market
Jeans: Levi's
Kimono: Topshop
Belt: Asos

Now you see, if I'd worn this outfit outside, I'd probably turn into a popsicle within 10 seconds. But yours truly cheated, I packed my outfit in my backpack and wore my usual winter coat and changed when I got inside. So it's not really my "outfit of the day" but hey I wore it so it counts :-))))! I also matched my clothes to the greenhouse. The white that represents the snowy fields and the flowers on my kimono are the ones that are guarded against the cold in a comfy greenhouse. Hehehe I'm cheesy like that, everything has to have a concept :-P

I've been eyeing this kimono for almost a year! When I saw it on Topshop's online website, my heart skipped a beat. Sadly, the price was anything but desirable so I forced myself to forget my love. Over the summer, I bought a cream kimono from Forever21, but it was a fling and whenever I looked at it I could only think of the Topshop kimono. A year later, I see the Topshop kimono at my local LaBaie department store at 50% off! I knew at that moment that I had to betray F21 kimono and bought Topshop kimono in a blink of an eye.

Lesson of the day: Don't rebound and seize the opportunity when the time's right!

Look at the airplane trail that streaks the sky! It makes me want to jet back to California TT___TT

Lily and I are trying to save some money by eating out less so throughout the shoot our tummies were demanding to be fed. These cornucopia flower pots reminded us of delicious buttery croissants :Q. It also reminds me of Hunger Games which I've recently started to read thanks to Niv.

Left: Glitter on pretty plants that are dyed blue
Right: A cool earring that Lily DIY-ed into a necklace

Lily on the left: "Check out that hottie!"

Please visit Lily's blog for more details of her outfit of the day!

I've been enjoying my lazy days now that I don't need to physically go to school. I've been watching movies and reading a lot of novels. I recently had a mini Leonardo Dicaprio marathon *his acting makes me melt into pudding* and I started reading the Hunger Games *finally*! I've also started reading some non-fiction such as The Outliers by Malcom Gladwell, it's about success and the factors that make some people outstanding. It's a very interesting read and I can't wait to start reading his other book, The Tipping Point.

Have you read any interesting books lately? Please recommend me some :-)

City of Angels with Grace

Hello hello from sunny California! You have no idea how glad I am to escape the harsh winter chills ( it was -20 degrees when we left Montreal and 26 degrees when we landed in LA). This is my third trip of the year and I'm so blessed to have been able to visit so many places. I'm graduating next year so I won't be able to travel freely. For now, I'm gonna soak up the sun and synthesize enough vitamin D for the rest of winter!

Peaceful view outside our Airbnb apartment.

Hollywood "Walk of Fame", I find that LA-ers are really friendly, people are constantly starting conversations with strangers. I was eavesdropping on one person's conversation and he said: "Everyday is New Years to me! It's the start of the rest of your life!"

Really cool vintage shop on Hollywood boulevard, they had all kinds of colorful wigs for 25-45$! I wanted to dig around and find a Halloween costume but we were on a mission to find Sephora so I didn't get to rummage around.

Cute panda and monkey nested dolls at a store in Little Tokyo.

One of the places I really wanted to visit was Bottega Louie, I read a lot of positive reviews online and a girl just can't resist pretty desserts.

Beautiful macaroons! I think macaroons are too sweet so I only got one: an earl grey flavored macaroon with golden flecks! It was too pretty to be eaten ;___;

Meet Grace from An Ace Affair. She's a fashion blogger from LA that I've been following for the past two years. Since I was visiting LA, I decided to contact her for a meet up. I've never met anyone through my blog so I was quite nervous: "What if we didn't click? What if she thinks I'm totally boring?" thoughts like these raced through my head. When we finally met, all my worries dissipated and I knew that we'd get along :) She was super sweet and has great style, we talked about internships, fashion and shared our favourite bloggers. Sometimes, I am so comfortable with my group of friends that I forget how to make new friends.

Since Grace is a fellow fashion blogger, it only felt right to go shopping together! Good thing she brought us to the Grove because I probably wouldn't have found it on my own ;___;

Tchyeaaaa, that's the type of photo-dedicated mom I will be when I get kids :-P

The grove is so pretty that Coco and I visited it again the next day. I didn't get anything but Coco left the battlefield with tons of goodie bags.

Thank you so much Grace for showing us around LA and being a wonderful tour guide :-) When you come to Montreal, holla at me and I'll bring you to all the cute coffee shops around here!

The Urban Light installation at the LA County Museum of Art that I desperately wanted to visit. It's such a beautiful work of art when it is illuminated at night! You know me and my love for pretty lights : - )

More pictures will be coming soon, thank goodness I brought my laptop!

Temptations at Arts Cafe

Mon-Fri: 9:00am-9:00pm
Sat-Sun: 10:00am-5:00pm

While describing my cafe hopping in my activity log for a school assignment, I remembered that I still didn't blog about our voracious experience at Arts Cafe last Sunday! We entered the cafe with a mindset of: "I'm-a-broke-student-so-I'll-just-take-a-coffee/tea" and left the cafe with filled bellies : X I'm telling you, I have almost no self control when it comes to food : C

This place was packed! For the 2 hours we were there (waiting time + eating time), there was not a single vacant spot in sight! Monkey and I tried to eat here the week before and we got there around 3:30pm and there was a line-up. I'm telling you, that's their strategy to entice you to order more: you're standing in line, it's cold, you see and smell the delicious foods pass by you one by one and your hunger stimulating hormones go whack!

Thank you Lily for the pictures!

Adrienne's cute Totoro Ipod case that she made herself!

Adrienne's simple house classic that consisted of 2 eggs, baked beans, hash brown, grilled bread, jam. Filling enough : )

My super delicious breakfast sandwich that I chowed down in record time! It was simple but packed all the right flavors! The bagel was extremely chewy and fresh, I bet they get it from St-Viateur bagel that's a few blocks down. Oh goodness, I really want to eat this bagel now. Food blogging sure can be a pain in the stomach sometimes!

Now that the weather is dipping lower, my appetite is getting higher. I wish I could just eat all day and nap all night *____* -wishful thinking-  Now, excuse me while I go back to my paper about obesity and environment...FOOOOOOOOD!

Girl On Fire

Over the long weekend, I had a triple blogger hangout with Lily and Adri; we chit-chatted over a cup of coffee, played in a park, ate some delicious Korean food and took obligatory OOTD's! We went outside our hangout area and went to Verdun. We walked along the water and found this neat row of trees that was perfect for an OOTD backdrop!

Jacket: G-market (2 years ago)
Scarf: St-Anne thrift shop
Tights and skirt: Japan
*NEW* Clutch: Zipia

Showing off my new beloved clutch from Zipia. It's gorgeously made and it can double as a laptop case! They had a variety of colors but I chose black for versatility (now I want all the colors *greedy*)! I don't own clutches because I think they're not practical for my lifestyle. I don't want to hold my bag the entire day... I already have a camera to hold >__< but this one comes with straps : ) It's THE PERFECT CLUTCH!

-Being attacked by photographers-

This is a pretty intimidating sight! The number of shutter clicks was even scarier! I wonder how stars feel when they walk down a red carpet, *CLICK CLICK CLICK CLICK*xbajillion! THANKS FOR THE PICTURES THO ;D

Visit their respective blogs for a breakdown of their outfits : )

Lily at Create & Inspire, Adrienne at Rendez Vous

Within a few hours after meeting each other for the first time, Adrienne gets cozy :-P

The reason we came to Verdun was because we wanted to try cafe Baobab. The cafe was huge and it fit the mood of our secretive discussions : )

I really liked my iced latte, it was creamy just the way I like them!

Proceeded to eating because that's what we do best:
LET'S DIG IN!

Delicious budae jigae (army stew), perfect for a cloudy day. The soup was so flavorful <3

What we saw while walking down the streets : - P Someone's in the mood for Halloween!

This week is pretty crazy for me so I apologize for the hasty post. I hope you guys are surviving your midterms as well! I'm looking forward to the weekend so that I can start working on my Halloween costume : )

Transition Time

I feel that as I get older, I grow accustomed to a certain fashion style therefore I don't experiment as much as before. Certainly practicality is my number one priority while dressing up but last Sunday, I felt a bit more adventurous than usual. Combine that with a new parcel on my desk from Runway Bandits and you get this outfit:

Fur Vest: Bershka (Japan)
Cardigan: Japan
Dress: Runway Bandits
Lace-up boots: G-market

I first learned about Runway Bandits, a Singaporean online shop while watching Jen Im from Clothes Encounters *LOVE HER*  I kept wondering where she got her awesome pieces and when I saw this dress, I knew I had to get it! If you've read my blog for the past few months, you know I love blue and I especially love a blue flower print on a white canvas! It reminds me of Santorini and porcelain china <3

This dress was 28.50 Singaporean dollars (roughly 23 CAD), which is a good price in my opinion. The shipping is 14$ for the first item and 4$ per additional item. Since I never ordered from them, I wanted to test it out so I only got this dress *real reason: I'm broke, that's alwayssss the real reason LOL* Shipping was a bit slow because it took the package almost 3 weeks to arrive : /

It was a pretty windy day and even though the sun shone brightly, it was still chilly... I should've worn skin colored tights cause it was coooolddd brrr~

Close-up of the print

Close-up of my shoes. I was gonna sell these this summer but in the end, the buyer didn't come at the meeting spot. So I've decided to keep them until I find the perfect pair of burgundy colored boots <3

On our way to Bernard street, we got lost (thanks to me). I swear I've been here a handful of times and I still get lost all the time :P

Miss Adri and I wanted to check out the vintage shops on Bernard street, upon entering a shop. This black cat just jumps on my boots and starts gnawing at my laces. The cat chewed my laces for a good 10 seconds before it decided that it's yucky : P

There was a garage sale going on in the streets so Adrienne scored a nice cream shawl for 3$!  When Adrienne took it out of her bag, the shawl was static-y, therefore it was reaching for Adrienne's finger like a baby reaches for its mama! It was so funny! Look at the fringe grabbing onto Adrienne's finger!

Go to Miss Adri's blog for a breakdown of her outfit of the day :)

Adrienne and I had talks about our dreams and goals in a coffee shop *as usual*. I always like to talk to Adrienne because we have similar aspirations. We pinned down our goals for the next two years while giggling at the thought of its enormous scale. With hard work and dedication, we're definitely gonna achieve our dreams!

Thanks to Miss Adri for all the pictures : )
