Hey Sailor!

Last Friday, we celebrated Niv's 22nd birthday in the Old Port!
The plan was to grab late dinner at Dolcetto & co and hop on the overnight boat club at midnight! The restaurant's adorable nautical atmosphere totally fit our plans! However, due to everyone's conflicting work schedules, we had to reschedule the boat *fingers crossed for this Friday*.

There were some hats hanging on the walls so after a few sips of alcohol, Niv took the hats and put them on her head =P I think nobody in the room was as amused by the hats as we were *giggle giggle*

Nautical inspired clothes are some of my favorite styles : 3 I wish I could've kept those hats for future theme parties!

Hand-made card by Lily : )

Birthday girl opening her gifts : )

Dolcetto & Co is a cozy Italian wine bar in the heart of Old Montreal. They serve foods in appetizer style. Everything is meant to be shared and don't expect a filling meal!

Invading people's privacy since 1991 (my birth year)! It was totally cramped when we got there, thank goodness we made reservations!

I love the attention to detail in this place! The big letters on the walls gives this place a very down-to-earth and youthful appeal.

I was joking around saying that we should use the grissini (thin bread sticks) as chopsticks and be really asian :}

Our seat had a very beautiful view of the Old Port : )

Spicy prosciuttino, it was really yummy with some olive oil on a fresh slice of bread!

We ordered some gnocchi with truffle cream (favorite of the night) and two different mini pizzas: one with roasted eggplant with caramelized onions and ricotta cheese and another with pear and pine nuts. The roasted eggplant one was super yummy, the pear and pine nut did not strike in flavor but was still enjoyable.

HAPPY 22ND BIRTHDAY TO THE CARROTY CARROT! We're getting old so start harvesting yourself!

Tiramisu cake! The lady at the cake shop gave me a funny look when I told her that I wanted to write: Happy Birthday Carrot! on the cake.

Captain sexy-shadow-blush and Captain eat-a-lot at your command!

It seems like one of those nights,
This place is too crowded.
Too many cool kids, uh uh, uh uh (who's Niv anyway, ew?)
It seems like one of those nights,
We ditch the whole scene and end up dreaming!!!

We had wayyyy too much fun playing with our Iphone flashlights. We took some hilarious flashlight nipple pictures but I'm keeping my blog PG-13 so no pictures of scandalous behavior ;D

Niv's skirt reminds me of a colorful kaleidoscope!

The weather was spectacular that night! Truly one of those romantic summer nights spent with good company!

Heading to a party

I'm taking a break from writing my stage report to show you guys an OOTD from Niv's birthday last Friday! Montreal gets a bit chilly at night (even when it's scorching during the day) so layering is a good way to keep your outfit interesting and keep you warm!
I pulled out my grey sequin jacket that I haven't worn since 2010 and recycled it with neutrals. Hope it ain't too girly for y'all!

Thanks to Lily for taking my OOTD pictures : )

Beige jacket: Zipia (2 years ago), sparkly jacket: Urban Outfitters (ages ago)
Top: Forever21
Shorts and sandals: G-market

Lily's pretty head band, I love the color combination!

A picture loaded post of Niv's birthday is coming up soon : ) It involves sailors, flash light nipples *VAT?* and lots of cake!

Now back to my report! I managed to finish 15 pages out of 20 within 2 days ;___; Hoping that I can finish the rest by tomorrow night!

Gatsby themed birthday

Remember when I said I didn't want to do anything special for my birthday? Actually I lied, I did do something special for my birthday with a special person hehehe! I used my birthday as an excuse to wear a beautiful dress and buy a groupon coupon for the House of Jazz
For one night, we pretended to live in a Gatsby-like world : P

I will let the pictures speak for themselves~

House of Jazz
2060 Aylmer St, Montreal, QC H3A 2E3

 I had been to the House of Jazz for a friend's sweet 16 back in HS, but somehow I forgot everything about that day .____. meeeep! Already getting old ;_;

A bit of nagging got Monkey to dress up for the occasion =P

Maxi dress: Asos
Sandals: Zipia

Probably the first time that I wear a gorgeous loooongg dress =P This chiffon dress is much prettier in real life. I love the simplicity of the shape and the shiny flower and star-shaped embellishments make it so unique : ) This dress is totally my style ^___^Y

Monkey that has to constantly put up with my whirlwind moods : }

Too bad I didn't get to wander around more, this place is really beautiful! They went all out with the decor. Even Monkey was impressed with the decor. He is a picky guy and almost always has some criticism to offer : P

Quickly snapping a few shots before the show starts!

Beautiful ceiling and chandelier on the upper floor. The terasse looked nice too but since it was raining and we wanted to see the performers, we opted to sit in the mezzanine.

The interior designer deserves major brownie points!

We were probably the only ones there that dressed formally =P Everyone was in t-shirt, jeans and shorts. The fact that we dressed up made the night feel more special : )

Monkey and I got drinks to match our clothes =P Red martini for Monkey and white martini for me. I have to admit that his red martini tasted much better : B

The jazz show was entertaining and I'm glad we didn't sit in front because the music was pretty loud : - P

We got a 5 course meal each starting with an apĂ©ritif, an appetizer, main dish, alcoholic coffee and ending with a dessert for 70$. Pretty good deal right? The food is not the most gourmet but I think that we mostly pay for the atmosphere and entertainment. The table next to us seemed very unsatisfied with their food but Monkey and I enjoyed our steak with salad + fries. The steak was 12oz, in other words: I couldn't even finish it (and a panda can always finish meat!)

The staircase towards the bathroom was so cool =]
Everything was just luxurious and decadent, hihihi I'm loving it!

It was a wonderful night and I'm glad that I went with a theme. I've always wanted to hold theme parties. Once I get my own apartment, I'm gonna have tons of theme parties >: ]
All readers are invited keke!

Panda + Sangria Day!

July 5th is officially declared Panda + Sangria day in my honor *D* by myself HUEHUEHUE!
Yesterday was my 22nd birthday and although I didn't plan to do anything special, it turned out to be a special night!
I had work in the morning and I just wanted to get my lash extensions done in the afternoon with Lily. I was thinking of going home after the lashes (because I'm broke) but Lily asked me to help her take a professional headshot of her friend Nicole. I love taking pictures so I tagged along.

The day was super hot but as soon as we stepped out to go eat at Jardin Nelson, it started pouring rain TT___TT

Lily's not too pleased that we have to change our plans : P Jardin Nelson has a great reputation for their terrasse, I'm planning on eating there once I have a real job so I can feel like those cooler older work people who go grab some happy hour cocktails on a terrasse hihihihi!

We ended up going to Burger Bar on Crescent street. I've wanted to try this place during the winter but I forgot about it. There are just so many foodie places to explore in Montreal that it can get overwhelming! Since I am broke 364 days outta 365, I usually go to "more expensive places" when I have a coupon from those discount sites! What would our lives be like without those awesome discount sites?!

A round of sangria with white wine! I got to pick the drinks since it was panda day. Hence the name panda and sangria day because I just luuuuuurrrrrrbbb sangria! It's the only drink I can probably drink nonstop till I pass out. The whole time, the girls made me feel really special by exclaiming that it was my birthday. Erica told a funny story about how Nicole makes a really big deal outta birthdays and birthday cakes. Everyone must have a birthday cake on their birthday so when Erica didn't have a cake, Nicole got her a cake a month later.

Finally the grubbbb! I got the baba burger which was loaded with condiments such as: grilled red pepper, red onion, zucchini, roasted portabello, babaghanoush, garlic mayonnaise. I still have no idea what the babaghanoush is...  I like the first few bites of a burger but then it gets too greasy. I think the burger I liked the most in my life was probably the McDonald's happy meal burgers : P Yeshhh shameeee on me!

Nicole, Soo and Lily all got the hangover burger (prize-winner). It was filled with fried egg, American yellow
cheese, tomato, smokey bacon, lettuce, Dijon mayonnaise and poutine aka cholesterol over saturated fats over refined carbs over heart attack in a bun!

Soo's burger in particular was HUMOOOONGOUS!

Nicole is describing the burger's monstrous size! Look at her determined face! She's calculating how she will be able to fit that burger in her mouth!

Dangling poutine cheese : ) It's not Montreal if there's no poutine!

Nicole's relationship with burgers in a picture!

Lily looking at us because we're amateurs that couldn't finish our burgers.

Nicole is leaving us because she's done with her undergrad at McGill. I'm sad that we didn't get to formally meet before because she's really cool!

Soo has beautiful long hair and long natural lashes!

YAY NEW FRIENDS AND OLD FRIENDS =]

It was a beautiful night out on the town; Montreal was buzzing with energy. The jazz festival was going on and fireworks were exploding in the sky! It was a memorable night and I'm so glad I ended up tagging along with Lily and meeting new friends!

On the other hand, today, I learned how to batch resize pictures on photoshop and now I feel my world has been flipped! It saved me so much time while I was editing these pictures, I don't even know why I didn't learn it earlier -screams-
